Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 cars have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.
Law enforcement state they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.
The fluid had been placed in the form of a swastika, they added.
Law enforcement then discovered many other marked cars and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement report early analysis show the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no lead as to its source; officials are currently not cognizant of any physical harm in association with the event," they added.
Local authorities announced they were working "to resolve the case" and have requested to the residents for information.
An important official said the vandalism left him stunned and needed to be solved promptly.
"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right violent incident five years ago," he wrote on a platform, referring to the killing of nine people by a shooter focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
